Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS) is a condition that results in blood clots in small blood vessels along with multiple organ failure treated mostly with blood thinners and a procedure called Plasmapheresis. Eculizumab (Soliris) is a monoclonal antibody directed against the complement protein C5 and was found to be effective in a case of one patient with CAPS who did not respond to the usual treatment.
